Trailers: ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’

Well, it’s back. Summit Entertainment has just released the first teaser for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In the second chapter of Stephanie Meyer’s series, Bella Swan is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen. Her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black as she suddenly finds herself drawn into the world of werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Twilight: New Moon, which I think sounds way better than the soap opera inducing title they’ve chosen, is set to be released November 20th, 2009. Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass, About A Boy) directs from a script by Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, The O.C.). The cast inclues Kristin Stewart, Robert Pattison, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, and Taylor Lautner.

Trailers: ‘Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans’

Posted by Brian on 05/31/2009

Source: YouTube

This trailer debuted last week, but I’m really too lazy to say anything about it. It just looks bad. Not Ghost Rider bad. Like, Wicker Man bad. Werner Herzog’s sequel to Abel Ferrera’s 1992 crime drama isn’t a remake or a reboot of the original. “It only has a corrupt cop as the central character and that’s about it.” At the 2009 Academy Awards, he claimed to have never seen the original. So then why call it Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans? Why not just call it Port Of Call New Orleans and have it be about a corrupt cop? Work with me, Hollywood.

Well, that’s because Herzog and the film’s star think the film has franchise potential. “You could have more than one Bad Lieutenant,” Cage says. “You could have Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call London next. It could happen and that’s what makes it interesting. I’m not the same cop that Harvey Keitel was. I’m  a different cop. I’m a New Orleans cop.”

Here’s the trailer.

Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans stars Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Xzibit, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Vondie Curtis Hall, Shawn Hatosy, and Brad Dourif.

Shia LaBeouf, Michael Bay, and Megan Fox stopped by MTV studios this week to talk about Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen and Shia was nice enough to bring an exclusive picture of the title character and elaborate a little more on his purpose and function in the film.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Again, if you didn’t already know, Michael Bay starts blowing shit up June 24th, 2009.

Russian ‘9’ Poster

ImpAwards has premiered a Russian poster for the stunning looking film, 9. Taking place in a world parallel to our own, a group of ragdolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9, who may be the key to their survival. I’m really excited about this animated feature. It’s darker than almost all of them, and it’s visual quality seems to be higher than anything DreamWorks Animation has ever put out. Count me in!

The cast includes Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Christopher Plummer, and Martin Landau. 9 is  directed by Shane Acker from a screenplay by Acker and Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House). The film is based on his 2005 Oscar-nominated short. The film is produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Wanted).

More Avatar news to whet your palette? Yes please! While it’s not exactly news or anything we didn’t already know, it is extremely interesting to hear someone talking about the film.

Sigourney Weaver spoke briefly with THR about her character, the world James Cameron has created, the technology created specifically for the film, and their close working relationship with Weta Digital.

It’s not very informative, but still intriguing to hear. As we get closer to the release date, I’m sure we’ll hear a lot more about this film.

Yo Teach!

Meet Mark Taylor Johnson, star of NBC‘s newest show Yo Teach! Okay, we all know that’s Jason Schwartzman so what gives? Well, Mark Taylor Johnson is the character Schwartzman plays in Judd Apatow’s upcoming film Funny People and Yo Teach! is the fictional show he stars in.

“[The fictional show] fits in somewhere between Dangerous Minds and The Cable Guy. I teach some kids that have been written off by society, but my heart’s too big to let that happen,” Schwartzman says. “I want to make sure they’re loved and treated like humans and get an education along the way.”

There are supposedly a lot of meta-films and television shows in the feature, so I’m sure we’ll see more viral clips from other projects will show up. I’m still not quite sure how I feel about a two and a half hour comedy, but at least Judd Apatow is doing and not some hacks.

Trailers: Toy Story 3

Pixar, aka the Greatest Film Studio Ever, have released the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 3. In keeping in line with the Pixar tradition of not revealing very much it really only lets you know that all the characters you know and love will be coming back. I did notice, however, that Bo Peep seems to be missing. Hmm.

Anyway, all that’s known about the plot right now is that that the toys are dropped off in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, leaves for college.

Toy Story 3 is being directed by Lee Unkrich, co-director of Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, and Monsters Inc. previously. The screenplay was written by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine). The film premieres in digital 3-D on June 18th, 2010.
