Cam Gigandet, probably best known for his role as the evil James in Twilight, is set to mine familiar territory in the upcoming vampire western, Priest. Starring opposite Paul Bettany, Priest tells the story of a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Gigandet plays a young wasteland sheriff who is part vampire, and partners with Bettany to save the girl he loves, the niece, who has not yet been cast. The film is based on a Tokyopop! comic, and was adapted by Cory Goodman. Priest is being directed by Scott Stewart.

Here’s a first look of Josh Brolin in character as scarred freelance bounty hunter, Jonah Hex. I’ve read recent comic stories which were amazing, but not the original run of Jonah Hex from way back. I have no idea what they’re pulling from on this, but he looks awesome.

Todd Field To Adapt ‘Creed Of Violence’

Posted by Brian on 06/02/2009

Todd Field (Little Children, In The Bedroom) is set to adapt Boston Teran’s novel Creed Of Violence. The novel takes place in 1910, as two men — a desperado and a government agent with a secret connection to him — try to thwart an arms smuggling ring. Field has committed only to write at this point, but he is selective about assignments and rarely scripts projects he doesn’t direct.  He’s also booked to write and direct an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian. Creed Of Violence is the second novel by Teran, the secretive writer who penned the cult-fave tome God Is A Bullet.
