Spotlight: ‘Breaking Bad’
Our spotlight this week centers on one of the most ambitious shows running on the air right now, Breaking Bad. It has all the insanity of Nip/Tuck, the domestic drama of Six Feet Under, and enough drug use to bring The Wire to it’s knees. That’s all well and good, but perhaps I’ve jumped the gun and you have no idea what I’m talking about so let’s backtrack.
Breaking Bad is an AMC series about Walter White, a married chemistry professor who learns he has lung cancer. But Walter doesn’t even smoke. Anyway, faced with imminent death, insurmountable medical fees, a pregnant wife, and a son with cerebel palsy Walter does what any of us would do…he cooks a shit ton of the purest, most amazing crystal meth in the world. Obviously, being a chemistry professor lends him more credibility than your average meth-head so Walt absolutely knows what he’s doing. And is sometimes completely ruthless in how he’ll go about.
