Well, damn. Is it just me or is this all coming together really fast? Hours after reporting that Bradley Cooper had signed on for Joe Carnahan’s A-Team, Variety reports that Liam Neeson is in talks for the George Peppard role, Col. John “Hannibal” Smith. Neeson and Fox are working out money issues as he’s currently coming off the global hit Taken. He most recently completed Chloe and Clash of the Titans, playing Zeus in the latter. Ridley Scott, Jules Daly, series creator Stephen J. Cannell, and Tony Scott are producing.

Carnahan, Fox and Scott Free have kept the basic premise of four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery who escape from a military prison to become do-gooder mercenaries, but they’ve replaced the campy nature of the series with a tone closer to Mission: Impossible and Ocean’s Eleven. The roles of Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock, played by Dwight Schultz in the original, and Sgt. “B.A.” Baracus, the role that made Mr. T an ’80s icon, have yet to be cast.
