Trailers: ‘Accidents Happen’

I love it when trailers this simple pop up and completely wow me. Great music, and the excellent use of slow-mo give this a completely gorgeous dream-like quality. Accidents Happen was helmed by Australian director Andrew Lancaster, who previously worked on Alex Proyas’ Garage Days as a composer and written by Brian Carbee, on whom the story is based. The only star I recognize is Geena Davis who plays young Billy’s mother, Gloria.

Accident-prone 15-year-old Billy Conway is playing with a friend when he causes an almighty crash with a bowling ball and a moving car, and he is forced to face his family’s history of misfortune. Lancaster is currently at work on his next film Valve, about a man who discovers he can hear subsonic sound. It’s described as a “a Kafka-esque myster thriller and, offbeat love story.” Needless to say, I’m sold. This trailer looks amazing though, so I’m sure his next film will be something to look forward to.
