Dan Milano To Write New ‘Short Circuit’

Dimension Films have tapped Greg The Bunny co-creator and current Robot Chicken writer, Dan Milano, to resurrect Johnny Five in a remake of the 1986 film Short Circuit. David Foster, who produced the original and is back to produce the remake with Ryan E. Heppe and John Hyde, said that Milano sparked to updating the concept by bringing a subversive edge to the original material.
I’m actually quite excited about this. Dan Milano co-created the criminally underrated Greg The Bunny and while he is more associated with the title character it was his alcoholic Shakesperian stage actor, Warren The Ape, that really stole the show.
“We’re bringing Number 5 into the 21st Century and taking advantage of the improvements in robotics that are so massive that robots are now performing heart surgeries in hospitals,” Foster said. There are also no plans to change the look of Johnny Five, Foster states.
“We think of ‘Wall-E’ as an extended trailer for our film, because it’s the same face,” Foster said.
