Trailers: ‘World’s Greatest Dad’

Posted by Brian on 06/19/2009

Bobcat Goldthwait and Robin WilliamsSource: First Showing

Magnolia has debuted a red band trailer for Bobcat Goldthwait’s sophomore directorial effort, World’s Greatest Dad, starring Robin Williams. The film is a very dark comedy about a man (Robin Williams) who learns that the things you want most may not be the things that make you happy, and that being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone. This actually looks pretty damn hilarious. Goldthwait directed Sleeping Dogs Lie in 2006, about a girl whose relationships are destroyed when she reluctantly reveals a past indiscretion with a pet. Check out the trailer below.

Apparently, the trailer doesn’t get into the big reveal of the story which, if it’s anything like Lie, I’m totally in for. Bobcat Goldthwait is a better director than I ever thought he’d be. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was ebought by Magnolia Pictures for distribution in the US. It will arrive in very limited theaters starting on August 21st as well as Xbox Live and VOD starting July 24th.

Trailers: ‘Fame’

Posted by Brian on 06/19/2009

FameSource: Apple

Here’s a second trailer for the upcoming Fame that plays less like a trailer for the okay Center Stage, and actually makes this look like something worth watching. A reinvention of the original Oscar®-winning hit film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts, a diverse, creative powerhouse where students from all walks of life are given a chance to live out their dreams and achieve real and lasting fame. In an incredibly competitive atmosphere, plagued by self-doubt, each student’s passion will be put to the test.

The film was directed by Kevin Tancharoen and written by from a script by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada)and Allison Burnett, and stars Naturi Naughton (Notorious), Kay Panabaker, Asher Book, Charles S. Dutton, Kelsey Grammar, Bebe Neuwirth, Megan Mullally, and Debbie Allen.

Posters: ‘H2′, ‘Sherlock Holmes’

Posted by Brian on 06/19/2009

Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in 'Sherlock Holmes'Source: Bloody-Disgusting / Empire

New posters are out for Rob Zombie’s Halloween sequel, H2 and Guy Ritchie’s upcoming Sherlock Holmes, respectively. I really like all of these, with the exception of Robert Downey Jr.’s poster. Looks like he’s about to cast a spell or something. But I really like the look of that H2 poster, considering I hated the first film. The little tuft of hair in his hands evokes so many images. In a time where everything is shown in graphic detail, it’s nice to remember a time when so much was left to the imagination…and ultimately ended up being so much more frightening. I’ve also included another pic from Zombie’s upcoming Michael Myers sequel. It’s…well, I don’t really know what the hell it is.

Brian Austin Green Is Metallo

Posted by Brian on 06/19/2009

Brian Austin Green in 'Terminator: SCC'Source: TV Guide

Brian Austin Green, he of 90210 fame and longtime boyfriend of the hottest girl breathing, Megan Fox, will be joining the cast of Smallville for it’s ninth season. I stopped watching this show after the first season. I couldn’t handle all the back and forth Clark/Lana/Chloe/Lex garbage, so I won’t even pretend to know what’s going on. Green was last seen on The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was cancelled after two seasons, but this time around he’ll be playing Daily Reporter journalist/cyborg, John Corben. Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which airs Friday, Sept. 25th.I honestly can’t remember this many 90210 cast members having jobs since, well, 90210.

G4’s Olivia Munn In ‘Iron Man 2′

Posted by Brian on 06/19/2009

Olivia MunnSource: /Film

Olivia Munn, co-host of G4’s Attack Of The Show and one of the hottest women to ever hold a videogame controller, was recently cast in Jon Favreau’s currently shooting Iron Man 2. /Film speculated that Munn may have been playing a reporter in the film, but via her Twitter account she denied that rumor. “Slashfilm took a guess at my role in Iron Man 2 and I am not playing a reporter. But that’s all i can say. :)” I bet we’ll start hearing more details at next month’s Comic-Con and, hopefully, maybe a bit of footage.
